Flexible Respite is a new service option for families and carers that can be provided both during and outside of normal business hours. Planned respite packages can be delivered between 7am and 12 midnight 7 days a week. Four-day breaks are offered regularly throughout the year and may have up to 10 participants. These trips provide participants with an opportunity to meet new people and experience a break in various locations throughout Victoria.
Individual respite packages Referrals are taken on an ongoing basis and are developed in conjunction with the person experiencing a mental illness, their carer and a Respite Coordinator. Individual respite packages can assist people with a mental illness to link in with other relevant programs and activities within their local communities, provide new opportunities to support their recovery, and sustain their relationship with their carer.
Small Groups can be organised for 3-6 participants and sesions are usually held weekly or fortnightly. Both small group packages and individual respite packages can be tailored to suit the needs of carers and care recipients.
Day trips can be run for groups of up to 10 participants and have included outings to places such as Hanging Rock, Healesville Sanctuary, Peninsula hot Springs, Melbourne Zoo and Williamstown.
