"The Federal Government has for the first time committed to ending homelessness in Australia, agreeing to a 'significant' reduction in homeless numbers within the next five years, an end to rough sleeping and an overall goal of halving homelessness by 2020...
The targets, contained in the National Affordable Housing Agreement negotiated at COAG at the weekend, were expected to be part of the Government's homelessness white paper, which is likely to be released in the next fornight.
But their surprise inclusion in the new housing agreement between the federal, state and territory government has delighted homeless services."
